If you’ve never hosted or attended a Murder Mystery evening before, it’s understandable that you may be unsure as to what an event can entail. All Murder Mystery companies work slightly differently, but this is what you’ll get from Death On Demand:
We can provide a Murder Mystery for any size venue, where bookings are open to members of the public*. Or we can cater for small family or private groups of a minimum of 12 people – you just need to arrange a location, the food and we’ll arrange the entertainment! Our Murder Mystery evenings are normally hosted alongside a sit down meal, although other meal options can be arranged – this is decided and pre-agreed with DoD by the venue! Although we say ‘evening’, these events can take place over lunch, brunch, breakfast, afternoon tea, no food at all, or even just as team building activity or after dinner entertainment!
The evening is a fully interactive, live-action immersive theatre experience. Our experienced actors will be ‘in character’ for the entire evening and will interact with the guests freely. There is no ‘stage’ – the characters are around and among the guests throughout! The intricate and detailed plot, clues and motives are revealed as the night occurs. There may even be an opportunity to rummage through the character’s possessions! What are they hiding in their pockets?!
The action begins quite often once starters are served, and will continue throughout the meal, alternating between ‘scenes’ performed by the suspects – full of clues and information – and opportunities for the guests to interrogate the characters directly at their own tables. The clues are there, the mystery can be solved!
Near the end of the evening, as the clues are adding up and the story develops, there is an opportunity for representatives from each table to investigate the suspect’s belongings! Then it’s time for the guests to put two and two together… and hopefully solve the case! Following a reveal, the winning table will then be announced, and a prize is presented (provided by the location or private group).
The evening can take between 2 and 3 hours, depending on script and size of your group.
One thing that guests can be assured of is that the event will be performed entirely by the experienced cast of Death On Demand. No guest is asked or expected to play a main role. However, we do encourage guests to dress according to the theme of the Murder Mystery!

Death On Demand will provide:
- Professional Actors, some with over 15 years Murder Mystery experience.
- Table notes (scenario overview and suspects list)
- Evidence and suspect’s properties for examination as the event progresses
- Death On Demand Pencils for guests for note-taking
Cast Size Required:
We recommend the following DoD cast size depending on the number of guests at your event. You are welcome to go for a larger cast size for the size of your group, especially if you have a particular script or theme in mind, but we will not be able to provide a smaller cast for larger numbers. Here’s a guide for you.
Number of guests between 12 and 20 will require a minimum DoD cast of 3 (though we recommend 4!)
Number of guests between 21 and 40 will require a minimum DoD cast of 4.
Number of guests between 41 and 60 will require a minimum DoD cast of 5.
Number of guests between 61 and 80 will require a minimum DoD cast of 6.
